    We booked the two day tour to Golden Rock and then sightseeing around Bago/Yangon. It was awesome! Our driver and guide were GREAT. There was water for us and the car was very clean. Another nice touch was that after every temple we had little wipes to wipe our feet off. You have to take off your shoes and your socks when you go into a temple, and your feet can get dirty, so this extra touch was really nice. Our guide was incredible. He was super flexible and changed up the tour to make sure we got to do what we wanted. For example, I didn't want to go to the snake temple, so we didn't go. He answered all of our questions and was super engaging and friendly. The ride from Yangon to Golden Rock is about 3 hours. Just keep that in mind for planning. We actually chatted almost the whole way, but it would be a good time to take a nap or read. Also – plan the bathroom schedule accordingly, There are places to stop – but not a lot. We did stop about half way to use the bathroom and to have a snack at a rest stop area. When we got to the base of the mountain before taking the open air bus we transferred or bags.We had luggage with us, but there is no room for that. Make sure that you transfer your clothes or whatever you need for one night into your bag. We were able to leave our luggage in the car with the driver over night. He didn't go up the mountain, it was just us and our guide from that point until the following morning. The open air bus is VERY crowded and there is no room for large luggage. Also – it's a super windy road getting up to the top. Someone in front of me got sick out the side. It's all open so it wasn't a big deal, but be prepared! Once we arrived at Golden Rock we checked into the hotel. SO NICE! We ended up getting the only room that had a view of the temple and the mountains, it was a bit pricey but totally worth it. We stayed at the Mountain Top Hotel and I would definitely recommend staying there. We ended up eating dinner in the restaurant at the hotel, which was nice. You could make reservations in advance so we did that. We went to Golden Rock for sunset, but there were a lot of people. Our pictures ended up being the best when we went mid-day after we first arrived. Such an amazing sight, I am so glad that we made the trip. Although it is kind of far from Yangon, it's definitely worth seeing. I would still recommend going back for sunset, though, to Golden Rock, I mean – there is nothing else to do, so you might as well! The following morning we had breakfast and checked out early and went sightseeing in Bago. Tons to see, and the tour was great. We wanted to get back to Yangon early so we could do some things around the city (that's why we left early), and our guide was more than helpful to let us do that. Don't forget to tip your guide and driver. Next we flew from Yangon to Bagan. We arranged our own flights but the tour company picked us up at the airport, which was nice. We were able to book another tour through Golden Rock for Bagan. Again, our driver and guide were excellent. They were both super friendly and our guide, Aung Mya Moe, was SOOOOOO amazing. He must moonlight as a photographer, because he seriously knew every single shot we should take to have a great photo. I think all of our photos from Bagan look professional because he helped us pick all the spots! He was super passionate about all of the temples (and there are a LOT) and was always checking on us to see if we were okay or if we had questions or if we wanted to see anything else. I really can't recommend this company any more! It was great. We will definitely go back to Myanmar, and when we do we will book with Golden Rock Travel. I really don't think you can beat the price for what you get. The tour guides just made the whole trip memorable! Again, don't forget to tip your driver and guide, they really (seem to) appreciate it! We would like to thank Golden Rock Travel for being so quick to respond and accommodating with all of our travel requests. Thanks for helping to make our trip to Myanmar so spectacular! 111aaaa222

    Sashan's organisation was amazing as I simply gave him a list of the places we wanted to see and he put the itinerary together and was always prompt relying to my many emails. All aspects of the tour were faultless, our guides and drivers were always punctual and so accommodating and had great knowledge of their areas, our accommodation was very good as I had stated " clean/comfortable/good location/3 */quiet " and the tour was excellent value for money as it included 3 internal flights and a 3 day cruise from Mandalay to Bagan. Our tour was an excellent mix of Pagodas/Temples /Scenery/Cultural experiences and a huge variety of transport modes..from horse and carriage ,train,boats and private car it all made for one of the most memorable trips we have ever done ( and we have been travelling the world for over 30 years!!!) 111aaaa222

    Day 1 we were treated to a truly local market, with amazing variety of produce and even an elephant taking donations, on the outskirts of Yangon. The oranges we bought were handy to pass to the student monks at the pre-lunch alms procession at Kyaly Khat Wai Monastery in Bago. We also toured the stunning Shwenandaw Pagoda (taller than Yangon’s landmark Shwenagon) before continuing from Bago to our lunch at a resort near the base of Mt. Kyaiktiyo. Theina negotiated our passage via crowded, open-sided truck (paying for an extra seat so we were not too jammed on our bench amidst fellow pilgrims, we the only Westerners) for the more fun than scary ascent to the mountaintop. Walking the shop-lined track in ten minutes we reached the Mountain Top Hotel, which the company booked well in advance and thus secured us Room #201, THE one with a view of the Golden Rock. Theina was always there to get us to the action at the various stops along the ridge and at the Rock for sunset and sunrise. He informed us of the culture, the legends, the beliefs, the costumes, and the customs - all fascinating and a privilege for us to behold and participate in. After breakfast on Day 2, we descended sitting comfortably up with the driver, arranged by Theina. Mao greeted us at the bottom and drove us to see fishers drying their catch en route back to Bago to see several more sights - among these were a huge Reclining Buddha and a monastery with a legendary python. We even were able to visit a hand weaving workshop, with beautiful yet bargain-priced fabrics, and then get a taste of toddy palm. Before returning to our motel in Yangon, we had one final stop to tour the Htauk Kyant War Memorial Cemetery, honouring the British Commonwealth soldiers who died in WWI and WWII. These two days stand out along with the best experiences we had in two weeks in Myanmar; Theina and Golden Rock Tours and Travel deserve full credit for that by greatly exceeding our expectations. 111aaaa222

    We had been searching for a private day tour from Yangon to the Golden Rock, and GRTT tailored an itinerary to meet the needs of myself and my two children. Our guide was excellent, the driver was safe and friendly, and the transportation was top-notch. Communication prior to our trip was thorough and fast.     To our surprise within no time an e mail came back with lots of information and suggestions and answers to our many questions. This was the first of many e mails and each time Sashan was quick to reply always so helpful. Thanks to him we have just returned from an incredible 4 weeks in the most magical country, meeting the beautiful people who call it home and sharing in an amazing culture.     My wife and I contacted Golden Rock Travel this year to plan our trip to Myanmar. We knew immediately that Golden Rock was our choice for tour operators as they answered our questions very thoroughly and seemed to really listen to us rather than return a “canned response”. My wife had planned this trip for us for my birthday and she was very specific in what she wanted and Golden Rock Travel answered her emails almost immediately and very accurate answers to each and every of her questions. Our trip to Myanmar was two weeks in duration. We are experienced travelers in visiting Asia multiple times with local tour companies that we have hired. We always choose upscale hotels and a private guide and driver in each city that normally picks us up at each airport. Every aspect of our trip planned by Golden Rock was flawless. The tour guides were incredible. They all spoke perfect English and were knowledgeable and nothing but nothing was ever a problem with anything that we requested. There was never an issue with length of our tours each day and our expectations were far exceeded with each guide and driver. Golden Rock Travel would be an ideal choice for anyone to visit and tour Myanmar. However, they went far and above being a travel tour company. We had a mistake on our visa from Myanmar and we could not leave to go to Myanmar until the problem was fixed. This occurred on a weekend when the Myanmar consulate was closed. We called them at Golden Rock Travels and they assisted to help us fix this problem The last time we left Yangon, Myanmar, we left a piece of hand luggage at security that contained all our gifts and souvenirs. When we reached Hong Kong, the airline was useless in helping us recover the lost luggage. The Yangon Airport was also very difficult in finding the luggage. Again, we called them and they immediately sent someone to the Yangon Airport and found the luggage. The next day, they took the lost luggage to the DHL office to have it shipped home for us. They did not ask for payment for these expenses and trusted us to send them the money as the luggage contained gifts for our friends and they did not want to delay us receiving our luggage with the gifts. These are all examples of how the team at Golden Travel went far and above what we expected.     Thank you very much for arranging a fantastic 10 day tour in Myanmar for us. We enjoyed the hotels and tours. The guides at all locations were excellent, courteous and very keen to show us around. They were very accommodating when we told them we needed a break and were willing to arrange the sightseeing to suit our plans. We were met at airports very promptly by guides holding up signs welcoming us so we were never left stranded or unattended. They were very well informed of the history of Myanmar and were able to explain all important sights clearly. The drivers too were very helpful and made sure we were comfortable at all times. We enjoyed the food in Myanmar - it was great fusion of Thai, Malaysian and Indian curries which we liked very much.     I would like to echo the sentiments of our group, regarding the stellar performance of our guide Mr. Sai and our driver, whose name I'm sorry I cannot remember, while visiting in Myanmar. Mr. Sai was amazing! We were so very pleased, his English was exceptional. We understood and appreciated every clear word he spoke to us. He was attentive to all of our needs in explaining things as we drove to our destination of the Golden Rock. And he helped us in even the small but important matters like properly ordering food in the restaurants! He was invaluable in every way during our wonderful trip. And we loved him for it. Any group would be blessed to have a knowledgeable, attentive, well-spoken and kind guide like Mr. Sai leading their journey to the Golden Rock--or anywhere in Burma. Simply put: He is the best! Personally, I want to thank him for leading me through various pagodas and explaining to me in terms I could understand about Buddhism and the 4 Noble Truths and 8 Fold Path to enlightenment. His honest and clarity on the history and legends of Buddhism were very insightful. I learned a lot! I will also add that the Mountain Top Hotel was charming, well run, very friendly and very clean! It was a delight to stay there. In all, our trip to the Golden Rock was the best possible tour in Burma. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting this ancient and interesting land.     It was a wonderful trip and 9 days was a good amount of time. I liked the structure of the itinerary with 2 days in Ngapali and 3 days in Mrauk-U as latter was so interesting. Here's my candid feedback: I've rarely used Trip Advisor, but when I was planning my trip to Myanmar at short notice and needed a travel agency to organise my holiday, I turned to recommendations and testimonials on their website. I was very pleased to find Golden Rock and the positive testimonials of clients lived up to expectations. Great staff - professional, efficient, personalized service, quick to answer questions and organise flights and hotel bookings. And added plus, staff proved themselves quick to act in a tight situation. I highly recommend Golden Rock. Hotels: Grand United 21st street hotel , Yangon - great location in heart of China Town. Wonderful views from roof top terrace to Shwedagon Pagoda one way and the River the other way. Room was comfortable, clean, well maintained, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Great recommendation! Amata Resort, Ngapali Beach - good location at southern end of a beautiful, peaceful beach with spa and nice garden setting. However, hotel room is not up to snuff. The deluxe room was 'tired' including very outdated TV set. Plastic sheet covering the roof window (assume it had been leaking). One window looked over the garbage heap. On good side, plenty of hot water, and the garden outlook was fine. However, the quality of accommodation and maintenance was not up to par to the prices charged. Staff were frazzled probably due to large number of tour groups especially as it was Chinese New Year. Bit of a factory. Mrauk-U Princess Hotel - a beautiful, well run hotel set in leafy surroundings along the river with private hotel jetty. Staff courteous and friendly, very personable. A gem. The quality of the spa treatments was excellent and the setting of the spa next to the river, tranquil. Worth spending the extra to stay there, and happy that you suggested it. Mr. Ran, the guide - good English and knowledge of the area. I could see that he attunes himself to what interests his clients, and aims to make the trip interesting for his client. He was easy to travel with and he is a serious professional. No hesitation in recommending him. Drivers and vehicles. Driver and car in Sittwe were great. The car in Mrauk-U was a sedan, which was not the ideal for the potholes but the driver was fine. KBZ airways - all OK. Planes were running behind schedule by around 30-40 minutes, but understand that this is probably true of all airlines. Good cabin service and staff 111aaaa222

The guides were overall great. They were looking after us in a wonderful way and were fabulous companions without exception. Good knowledge of the history and the actual situation of the country. Friendly, open, caring and flexible. All drivers were professional and extremely careful. The hotel rooms and the service at Sandoway Resort, Governor's Residence (my favorite place in Yangon) and The Strand were excellent! The food was good, although I have to admit that the food standard at Sandoway has slightly downgraded. The View Point Lodge in Inle is not up to the standard mainly due to the lack of leadership of the GM who is not very customer and service orientated. He should coach his staff better and empower them. The food quality of the restaurant was moderate. Flights and airport services have improved. I liked KBZ.
